LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) is made from thin wood veneers glued together in one direction, giving strong, straight, dimensionally stable beams for headers and long spans. Glulam (Glue-Laminated Timber) uses thicker, sawn lumber layers bonded together, often for larger structural beams and architectural applications. Both are engineered for strength beyond standard dimensional lumber — the right choice depends on your span and load requirements, so ask our team for guidance.
Plywood grades range from A (smooth, paint-ready face) to D (structural use only, visible knots and voids). For cabinetry and visible surfaces, choose a higher-grade face veneer (A or B); for subfloors, sheathing, and other structural applications, a C or D grade panel is more economical. Pressure-treated lumber resists rot and insects, but for the longest life let it dry before staining or sealing — usually a few weeks after installation — use fasteners rated for treated wood to prevent corrosion, and reapply a water-repellent sealant every 1-2 years for outdoor applications.
